Norm Breyfogle is a comic book artist that was working on DC's Batman during the Tim Burton era. Breyfogle along with several other artists were asked by DC to redesign Robin in 1990. The artists were told the were designing the suit for Tim Drake, the new Robin. Only Neal Adams knew that DC was asked by the filmmakers to redesign Robin. Ultimately Adams' design was chosen, but certain elements from Breyfogle's design carried over, like the use of a staff.
Breyfogle's designs all featured the metal gauntlets and shin guards from the movie's Batsuit.
